How do Whipple superchargers work?
Whipple Superchargers™, leaders in supercharging since 1987, now offer the most powerful intercooled twin-screw system. The 4th gen 2.9L supercharger, with redesigned rotors and improved housing, delivers unrivalled power. With cutting-edge technology, a large intercooler, and expansive heat exchanger, this system outperforms all others. It works with stock or modified engines.
Whipple Superchargers are a Twin-Crew style supercharger which are positive displacement supercharger that compresses air before it enters the engine's combustion chamber. Twin-screw superchargers are known for their efficiency, linear power delivery, and the ability to produce significant low-end torque. Its one of the best ways to increase power especially on a v6 or v8 application.
Although a little more expensive than the roots type superchargers, twin screws do offer more efficiency, less parasitic losses and cooler charge temperatures. While these positives are slight on street applications, in extreme scenarios the gap widens between the two types of superchargers.
