F-150 / Ford Transit Exhaust Manifold - Turbo Repair.
Has your F-150 or Ford Transit with the Ecoboost engine developed a ticking noise? That’s more than likely the sound of exhaust gases escaping between the exhaust manifold and the head of the engine.
Being a twin turbocharged setup, the Ford EcoBoost engine subjects its exhaust manifolds to a great deal of heat. The constant heat cycles will warp the exhaust manifolds, snapping the manifold bolts and breaking the air tight seal they’re supposed to have at the head and causing exhaust gasses to escape prematurely. This issue tends to happen more so to F-150 trucks that are towing, or under load often, and Ford Transit vans because of the smaller engine compartment keeping in more heat.
Here at Lakeview Automotive, we are no strangers to fixing this issue and have done so on many Ford F-150 trucks and Ford Transit vans equipped with the EcoBoost engine.
In this repair we remove the exhaust manifolds and extract any broken bolts, inspect turbos, and re-install using a new manifold and bolts.
Turbo
This process involves removing the turbos. Turbos are a hard working component and they do fail eventually. If we see signs of wear on the turbos during this procedure, we will recommend a replacement.
